Porsche Tennis Grand Prix: Elena Rybakina takes second title in Stuttgart with rapid win over Karolina Muchova

Elena Rybakina won her first repeat title with a 7-5 6-1 win over Karolina Muchova in the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix after first winning the tournament in 2024.

The Kazakh took her 13th overall title in just 78 minutes, continuing her emphatic start to the year after also winning the Australian Open in January.

Famously, the winner in Stuttgart is awarded a Porsche which they drive onto the court, however after her win in 2024, Rybakina had not yet passed her drivers' test so used her prize to take, and pass, her test the following year.

"It's an amazing tournament, we love coming back here," Rybakina said. "It really feels like home and ‌you just want to come back every year.

"Super happy for the second win here in Stuttgart and this beautiful car."

While she exuded confidence in the final after reaching the end of the week with three straight-set victories, Rybakina also had to save two match points in a three-hour quarter-final against Leylah Fernandez.

But victory elevated Rybakina into exclusive company, making her just the fourth active player to win at least five WTA-level titles on multiple surfaces, joining an elite group that includes Venus Williams, Elina Svitolina and Iga Swiatek.

Elsewhere on Sunday Marta Kostyuk was victorious in an all-Ukrainian final against Veronika Podrez at the WTA Open de Rouen.

The first seed won 6-3 6-4 in one hour and 21 minutes to clinch her second WTA singles title and first in over three years.

"This match today was not just a match," said Kostyuk. "It was a historical moment for Ukrainian tennis. First time two Ukrainians playing in the final. I know how much work, sacrifice, tears and sweat goes into this sport and to be able to be on this stage. So I'm incredibly proud of Ukrainian tennis right now.

"We have [five] Top 100 players, and I hope that this match, and me and Veronika, will be able to inspire more kids to try the sport, to pick up a racket for the first time and truly enjoy the emotion and passion and everything that this sport brings."
